Thailand in water, brick and gold
Bangkok after dark, palace gardens, Ayutthaya’s ruins and the landscapes of Ancient City.

My Thailand 2016 photographs move between very different settings: an illuminated Bangkok skyline, clipped palace gardens, weathered temple brickwork and ornate buildings reflected in water. The details range from a Buddha head held by tree roots to a simple banana beside a cup.
Bangkok: CentralWorld after dark
The skyline gathers into bright vertical lines after dark. CentralWorld’s name is visible below the towers, while lit streets and skywalks cross the lower part of the frame. Windows and signs give the view its pattern.
Bang Pa-In Palace gardens
Elephant-shaped topiary stands on a neatly cut lawn beneath mature trees. The animals are formed from dense foliage, their shapes set against the darker tree line.
Water changes the scale of the next garden view. Trees and lawn follow the edge of a pond, and their reflections fill much of the frame.
Ayutthaya: Wat Mahathat and brick ruins
At Wat Mahathat, a stone Buddha head sits within a web of tree roots. The rough bark and looping roots frame the sculpture closely; the weathered stone is much paler than its surroundings.
Another frame opens out onto brick ruins and a dark Buddha figure. Broken edges, exposed surfaces and the sky above them give this part of the album a different texture from the lawns and water of the palace gardens.
Ancient City: halls beside the water
At Ancient City, the architecture fills the scene again. An ornate pale hall stands beside the water, while a timber hall spreads a broad, layered roof over its supports. Trees and planting surround both views.
The photographs make room for the spaces between the buildings too: a small stream drops through rocks and leafy plants beneath the shade.
Ancient City: sculpture and the Pavilion of the Enlightened
A reclining Buddha sculpture lies outdoors beneath trees, draped in bright cloth. Elsewhere, a fountain brings together carved figures and curling serpent forms. The views are close enough to make the surfaces and sculptural details part of the story.
The Pavilion of the Enlightened rises above the water in green and gold. Its repeated roof tiers gather into a dense pattern, with the surrounding water and sky giving them space.
A small food moment
The album’s food photograph is modest: a peeled banana held above a wooden table, with a cup alongside it. The original post does not name the venue or the drink, so this small scene stands on its own rather than being assigned to a particular attraction.
