California, a visit to Biola
Campus paths, two chapels and lecture-room notes from 2016.

Biola University fills much of my California album from 2016: classrooms, the library, a fountain and small places for prayer. A separate set from SeaWorld San Diego adds an outing beyond campus.
Biola University campus
The welcome sign reads “Think biblically. About everything.” Around campus, broad lawns and shaded paths lead between the buildings. A tiered blue fountain stands in an open plaza, with tables beneath a pergola behind it.
There were lectures as well as campus views. My note about J.P. Moreland as the day’s lecturer joked about the mental workout; another post paired a classroom visit with a short quote from Clay Jones.
An interior view in the same album shows wooden pews beneath dark roof beams. Daylight enters through a large cross-shaped window behind a plain altar.
Calvary Chapel
Calvary Chapel has a broad, flat roof and pale walls, with a simple cross beside the entrance. The lettering for Feinberg Hall appears along the lower wall. Hedges and lawn separate the building from the walkway.
Rose of Sharon Prayer Chapel
The Rose of Sharon Prayer Chapel is much smaller: brick walls, a steep roof and a white bell tower beneath the trees. Its name is written directly above the double doors.
Biola Library
Inside the library, computer workstations sit beneath a high, bright space ringed with Bible verses about light. The words from Psalm 27 and Isaiah 60 are visible above the desks, continuing a theme already present at the campus entrance.
SeaWorld San Diego
A stop at SeaWorld San Diego also belongs to this trip. The park’s stone entrance marker and blue dolphin logo appear beside palms and a sweeping blue canopy.
