Prague: Charles Bridge, Vrtba Garden and the castle

Dawn on Charles Bridge, a rooftop outlook and Prague Castle in the 2015 travel notes.

Charles Bridge at dawn was bright with early sunlight. Lamps and statues lined the cobblestones, with the city’s towers ahead. The Prague stops also included Vrtba Garden and the castle.

Charles Bridge

The crossing was relatively quiet at dawn. Along the bridge, curling ironwork, gold details and padlocks decorated a railing beside the river. The opposite bank’s buildings stood beyond the water.

Vrtba Garden

Vrtba Garden offered a view across Prague’s red roofs, with a green dome rising beyond them. Its terraces and stairs climb the hillside, opening up elevated views of the city.

Prague Castle

At Prague Castle, pale façades enclosed a broad courtyard. Dark cathedral spires rose behind the roofs, above the open spaces of the castle grounds.
